Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

I came across Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day about a year ago. And I knew that I wanted to participate in it. So when I saw the blog post last week, I talked to Mom about it. And we agreed to be a part of the fun!

We have a few items that we're going to giveaway. Just some stuff from our stash. But I think they'd make some fun Christmas presents. :)

This is a stuffed tutu for a little girl. What little girl wouldn't enjoy playing dress up? And there are jingle bells in there too!

And a warm scarf for winter. The color is between a light blue and a turquoise color. But as you can tell, I can't find my camera. My phone camera doesn't have the best quality. But it is a nice and warm scarf.

And the best part, this is one of Mom's Strawberry Shortcake Dolls. Isn't it too cute? I wish I could keep this one for myself. Can you believe that I don't have one?

Here's a close up of her cute face! So cute!

So for all the rules. Just leave us a comment with your favorite holiday treat. You get an extra chance for a link to a recipe. Oh, and you can get a 3rd chance if you follow our blog. Good luck! And you have until Sunday, December 19th at 11:59PM MST.

Lifetime and Christmas Presents

I'm on the road this week. For my internship and school. And Mom is home. Getting through her last week of work before the holidays. Today was a long day, one that started with a 10K run for the hospital. And has ended with me in a fancy hotel.

After our fancy dinner tonight, we got the rest of the night off. Our supervisor and his wife went shopping. The other doctor from our hospital went to bed. He wasn't feeling so well. And that left me alone.

Never fear. I brought some projects with me. I'd like to share them with you. But they're going to be Christmas presents. So we will have to wait until after the holidays. But I did watch a cute Lifetime movie, A Christmas Wedding.

If you get a chance to watch it, you definitely should! It's not your typical Christmas movie. But it was fun. And I managed to almost finish one of my Christmas projects!

Peppermint Coasters

Mom really liked today's free pattern from free Crochet. I have to admit they're very festive. I'm not sure that she'd use them as coasters. But they would be nice, to have around now for Christmas.

Craft Fair Day

Today was our Craft Fair! We honestly had a great time. Mom and Dad set up the 2 tables. I was still on the road. But I managed to get there before the first mass got out. And I added my new crafts to the tables. We also did a little bit of baking, to go with our crafts. :)

Mom and Dad had to leave after 2 hours. We also had a Family Reunion today. So I took care of the tables by myself, for half of the Craft Fair. That happened to be the half that was the busiest! Maybe because Santa came to take pictures. But I managed. Thank goodness for a friend, who came by to chat with the people, while I made the sales. :)

I don't think all the booths did well. Mostly because lots of the items were way overpriced. I think people need to take the location and the economy into consideration. The lady next to me was selling stuff that I could find in shops, around the hospital, were I work. Mostly jewelry and scarves. Not handmade. But she had some good business. Our tables were pretty busy all day. And she was the friendliest lady!

The ladies that were across from us, they came to chat with me for a while. Neither of them sold a thing. I felt really bad. Mom really liked the shawls that one the ladies had made. Yup, we got some ideas. I think Mom is going to try and make herself one.

And the food, it sold so quickly! Our church sells breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the Craft Fair. Within 2 hours, they had completely sold out! I was getting a little concerned about Mom and I's baked goods. Then all of a sudden, we started to sell out! We even had a bit of a riot over the peanut brittle that I made. For some reason, I had such a hard time making it this time. I made a double batch. Honestly, I should have made 3 or 4 times that amount. That's how much people wanted it. I need to remember that for next time.

At the end of the day, we had a great time. I even managed to finish another scarf while I was there. I need to also remember, to make some more business cards. And to go looking for socks. I sold out of Baby Legs in minutes! I had made about 15 pairs. But that wasn't enough!

We came home with some pumpkin bread, and some cookies. But we did good. Made a good amount of money. Both Mom and I came home with $100 each, and put the rest into our stash. We use that as change for the next show. Or to buy supplies. It wasn't a bad day at all. Now I can't wait until the Craft Fair in February.

Gingerbread House

This has to be the cutest little Gingerbread House! The pattern is available at Free Patterns. And honestly, I want to make one for myself. I've always enjoyed Gingerbread Houses. But this would be such a nice addition to my Christmas decorations. I'd really like to make it. Now to just find the time to crochet. :)

Precious Baby Booties

For over 2 weeks I've been searching for this book. Precious Baby Booties. I know that I had it about 2 months ago. I crocheted 10 pairs of booties. But now, now that I need it, I can't find it. :(

I even headed over to Hobby Lobby. With this week's 40% off coupon. They no longer stock this book. And because I'm not home, I can't go to our local JoAnn's. Which I know would have it. They always have older books.

So now, I'm stuck with 10 baby bonnets, and no booties. Does anyone know of a free pattern that I can download? Something that's lacy and feminine. That would be really nice. If I don't find anything soon, I'm going to just sell the bonnets by themselves.

You Can Find Us Here...

Yes, we've joined Twitter. Today we signed up. Just to add a few updates every now and then. If you'd like to find us, we're right here.

And we signed up for Etsy. Eventually, we'd like to start selling. But until after the Craft Fair, well we're just setting up our Etsy account. But you can find us here too!

That's it for today. It's turning into a really busy day. Oh, and we're trying to stay warm. It's so cold out here! Such a change for us.

Floral Ornaments

Over at Free Crochet, I found this pattern. I've always wanted to have a Christmas tree with homemade ornaments. Crochet ornaments to be specific. My Mom made me some as a kid. And I LOVED them! And as an adult, I've wanted to make enough for my Christmas tree.

I'm going to save this pattern. And start on some. Maybe just maybe, by next year, I'll have enough for my Christmas tree. Wouldn't that be darling? Oh, and if you want the pattern too, it's the free pattern today. So hurry and download it!

JoAnn's Sale

Did anyone happen to go to the big sale at JoAnn's this weekend? Mom and I made it there. And I'm so glad we did! I'm pretty sure Mom is excited too.

My Dad bought her Christmas present today. A dress form. Mom has wanted one for such a long time. Possibly since I was a small kid. And today, they ordered it. Because the one that Mom wanted wasn't in stock. We also stocked up on lots of fabric. I got a great deal on tulle. I bought 2 bolts for $7.99 a piece. The regular price is $21.99!

We also stocked up on odds and ends. Neither of us could pass up the pattern deal. And left with 10 patterns a piece! I picked up a sewing book that I've had my eye on for a while. And just some odds and ends.

In the end, we saved close to $50! That was just using coupons. We're not counting all the sale prices. And before we left, we couldn't resist the Scarecrows. We bought 4, at 99 cents a piece! Yes, it was a great sale. And now, we're stocked up for a while. At least until after the Craft Fair

Happy Thanksgiving

I don't know about you, but we woke up to snow this morning! And my Dad and I ventured out. Because we had to get to Wal-Mart, and pick a few last minute items. It was so beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. Everything dusted with snow.

We just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! I'm actually really excited about cooking today. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! And I'm pretty excited about the Macy's Parade too. Stay safe and enjoy your day!

When I Was Little

When I was little, I had a 3 or 4 foot Christmas tree. It was mine. And I'd set it up in my bedroom every year. I'd decorate it. From top to bottom. I really loved that tree.

Well, when I moved out on my own, it was one of the things I took with me. My little Christmas tree. It never seemed so small in my bedroom. But in my house, it looked tiny! I didn't care. That first year, I set it up on one of my coffee tables.

Unfortunately, that was the last year I had my darling little tree. The next year, I found it broken. I guess it was to be expected. I'd had the tree for over 19 years! But I still had the ornaments. My Mom had made them all for me. Including the garland. She had crocheted me a bunch of ornaments for my 1st Christmas. Well, since then, I've had small Christmas trees. I've never ventured out and bought a normal sized tree.

But I've always dreamt of having a large Christmas tree in my living room. Filled with crochet ornaments. You know, to add to all the special ones that my Mom made me 27 years ago! I'm not sure if this is the year or not, but I've started to make some more ornaments. And a snowflake garland. I can't wait until I get that special Christmas tree. :)

Santa and Mrs. Santa

I found this pattern today. It's the free pattern, from Free Crochet today. And this set of Santa and Mrs. Santa reminds me of these decorations I had as a kid.

My Santas were about 3 feet tall. And you'd plug them in. They'd move back and forth, and had candles that would light up. So cute! Now they are at my parents' house somewhere. I wish I had them here. At my house. But I think I might make this pair. I just need to find the actual dolls.

New Year's Shawl

I found this pattern at Lion Brand. I happen to be one of those women that really enjoys scarves, cowls, and shawls. I'd really like to make this for myself. And I think if I use "I Love This Yarn" it would be super soft. Perfect for the cool nights that are not far away.

Looking for Yarn Cat

I've been searching for Yarn Cat's website. I don't know what happened to it. But I really enjoyed the crochet patterns for hats. I have 1 printed out. But usually, I'd just go to Yarn Cat's website and I'd crochet from there.

This happens to be a pictured of one of her hats. I have no clue where she has gone to. Or what happened to her website. But I'm really missing it this year. I usually sit and make myself 3 or 4 new hats for winter.

If anyone knows what happened to Yarn Cat, please let me know. I'd be willing to buy her patterns from her. That's how much I LOVE her hats!

Beautiful Wreath

I was doing a Google search for a Christmas wreath, and I found this beautiful wreath! I think I could make one. Or something that is inspired by this wreath. You see, I really enjoy hanging wreaths on my front door. All year long! And purple is my favorite color. Now I just need some time to make it.

Guess What This Means

A bunch of knee high socks. With cute patterns. What do you think I'm going to make? If you guessed Baby Legs, you're right! I can't wait to get started. Now I just need to figure out what's wrong with my sewing machine.

1 Month Away

We have just 1 month until our annual Craft Fair. My Mom and I don't sell at many Craft Fairs. In fact, until a few years ago, we didn't sell our crafts at all. But our church started having a Craft Fair for Christmas. And every year, we've gotten 2 tables. And filled them up with all of our crafty goodness.

Yes, just 1 month away. And I feel like I haven't been adding too much to our stash of goods. Mostly because I'm busy with school and work. Oh, and I've been making lots of gifts lately. I have a nice list of things I want to complete. But I'm not sure it's going to happen.

As for Mom, she's working hard. And has gotten a lot done. Mom has been sewing lots of scraves. They are so pretty! And she's been crocheting some "Old School" Strawberry Shortcake dolls. We do have a nice stash of items that we add to through out the year. So I shouldn't be too worried. Even if we only have 1 month to go!

A New Day

For a long time now, my Mom and I have been wanting to start a craft blog. We have a love for crafting! My Mom started to crochet and sew when she was in school. She learned how to sew in school. And taught herself how to crochet by watching her grandma, my great-grandma.

As a kid, I watched my Mom and my grandma. My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was 3 years old. Nothing fancy. But enough so that I could make my dolls little blankets. As I got older, I taught myself using various crochet books. And after I moved out on my own, I taught myself how to sew.

Eventually Mom and I would like to start and Etsy shop. We've been selling at a few different Craft Shows, for a few years now. But we'd like to share some of that. And thought, a blog would be a nice place to share. And to meet new people! Please introduce yourself. We'd love to get to know you!
